David Marion CPA

Our founder, David Marion, is not just a leader, but the driving force behind who we are and what we stand for. He was the first Managing Partner and co-founded the firm in 1983. Even though he retired in 2018, David’s unmatched expertise in accounting and auditing for non-profits and government agencies continues to inspire us.

David’s unique teaching style, which incorporates storytelling and hands-on experience, has been a guiding light for many employees, past and present, who attribute their success to his guidance and mentorship.

David has also served as a Cal CPA Board Member and Board President. In 2012, he was honored with the Distinguished Service Award from the CalCPA Inland Empire Chapter and in 2015, he received the Inland Empire Chapter – Community Service Award. His unwavering commitment to serving his community is evident in his long-standing participation in various NPO Boards.

Now that he is retired, David has more time to enjoy his favorite pastime, golfing, and to spend quality time with his daughter and two beloved grandchildren. We are forever grateful for his contributions and his enduring legacy at SmithMarion. He is the reason why we are who we are, and we will always strive to live up to the standards he set for us.
