SMCO EMPLOYEE CARLOS CARAZO RECEIVES ENROLLED AGENT LICENSE

August 28, 2017 – Smith Marion & Company is pleased to announce that Carlos Carazo has received his license as an Enrolled Agent (EA), making him the newest addition to our team of licensed staff. Carlos has been a hardworking member of the firm’s tax department, and will now be taking on his own clients as he steps into his new role as an EA with the firm.

Becoming an EA involves taking a series of three exams and passing each of them successfully in order to demonstrate a wide knowledge of tax relevant information. Prior to taking these exams, Carlos was able to gain firsthand experience working with tax returns. To expand upon that experience and ensure his success, Carlos enrolled in an EA program that gave him access to high quality educational tools.

He says that he is “excited for the new responsibilities that come with the new role,” and hopes to provide clients with a high-quality service and an overall positive experience. He recognizes that taxes can be a difficult time of year for a lot of people, but he hopes to make the whole experience as easy as possible for clients, even if there is nothing that he can do about their taxes owed.

Carlos will be taking over many of the clients who worked with Janet Smith, who retired from Smith Marion & Company earlier this year. This upcoming tax season will be Carlos’ first tax season on his own, and while he admits to being somewhat nervous, he feels confident in his abilities.

Smith Marion & Company offers a warm congratulations to Carlos for his accomplishment, and is excited to move into tax season with another high caliber licensed staff on the team.
