KENDRA DOCKHAM RECEIVES NON-PROFIT CERTIFICATION

Smith Marion & Company is pleased to announce that Kendra Dockham, CPA has completed a certification program in providing audit services to not‐for‐profit entities. The Not‐for‐Profit Certificate Level I is a 40‐hour course offered by AICPA, and certification requires passing a series of exams to demonstrate knowledgeability in several key concept areas.

The certification program covers four main tracks: an introduction to not‐for‐profit entities, an accounting and financial reporting track, a tax‐compliancy track, and a governance and assurance track. The course supplemented Kendra’s experience in working with non‐profits, and allowed her to expand her skill set to offer the highest quality audit possible from engagement to finalization.

Auditing not‐for‐profit entities is often more of an involved process than for‐profit entities, and requires extra effort on the auditor’s part to ensure a that organizations are in compliance with governing standards. Kendra, who has been auditing not‐for‐profit entities for almost five years, does not mind the extra effort, and says that she “enjoys being a small part of the huge impact that non‐profits make in our communities.”

Kendra’s accomplishments are a testament to Smith Marion & Company’s mission of being an industry leader, and of providing the highest possible level of service to our clients. When asked about the motivation behind taking the certification course, Kendra responded by saying: “I am inspired everyday by the great programs and outcomes that our clients achieve and want to be able to provide them with the highest level of accounting knowledge possible.”

Smith Marion & Company hopes to continue to strive for excellence in service to our clients, and appreciates the efforts that Kendra has made to better herself in her field.
