A Certified Public Accountant receives licensing through the state and has the authority to perform audits and attest to the accuracy of a company’s financial information. In order to become a Certified Public Accountant, professionals must pass the four part Uniform CPA Exam and fulfil the state specific requirements for the state they will be licensed in. In Tennessee applicants must have one year of accounting experience, complete 150 semester hours of education, earn a bachelor’s degree and pass the four part Uniform CPA Exam as well as the Professional Ethics for CPA’s exam.
