September 26, 2014 — Smith Marion & Co. Senior Associate – Douglas Englehart, M.S.A., CPA, and Manager – Timothy May, CPA, receive the Fraud Detection Award. This award recognizes Douglas and Timothy’s understanding of areas of fraud and desire to protect Smith Marion & Co. clients.
David Marion, CPA, Managing Partner with Smith Marion & Co., LLP says, “As a firm we have a high awareness of potential areas of fraud and an interest to protect our clients; to back that up, we pay a $1,000 bonus to any staff that identifies fraud at any of our clients. Tim and Doug are the most recent recipient of the bonus for fraud detected during an audit. Congratulations to both, Tim and Doug.”
Douglas Englehart, M.S.A., CPA, began working with Smith Marion & Company in June of 2012. He graduated magna cum laude in June of 2013 from California State University, San Bernardino, with a Master’s of Science in Accountancy. Englehart specializes in HUD Multi-Family Housing audits in accordance with OMB A-133 and GAGAS requirements. He is knowledgeable in accounting policies, systems and best practices under FASB and GASB; cost-reduction, allocation and tax strategies and GAAS auditing procedures.
Timothy May, CPA, began his career with Smith Marion & Company in August of 2011. Timothy graduated from California State University San Bernardino in 2011 with his Bachelors of Science in Business Administration. Timothy specializes in accounting and audit services for nonprofits, governmental agencies, HUD funded organizations, Housing Authorities and Tax Credit Properties as well as, Cost Certifications, Single Audits (A-133) of federally funded organizations and GAAS audits.
